Conference To Bout!

Yesterday was a good day! Me & Mooks & Sui went to the first ever Manchester Sports Club Conference! It was all corporate & stuff, we all got given folders with information & name badges! There was an NBA player making an inspirational speech about youth & basketball! Wow.

We went to a workshop on funding application which was really helpful, although every time we tried to write anything down the man in control of the powerpoint clicked the slide on. Anyway, we discovered that the best thing for us to do is apply for CASC status for Manchester Roller Derby, which is kind of like being a charity but with less paperwork. Also there is a very nice company, who, for a small fee, will do all the sorting out for us! Yay!

When we left I think all of us were a little bit more enthused about fundraising & having a constitution & stuff, because when we have all that stuff we will be proper & we will be able to do things like apply for bigger funding.

In the afternoon we went to see Rainy City play Stuttgart Valley. It was only my second bout ever (& Prime 8's second!) & was bloody marvellous! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time & shouted 'Did you see that?!' at pretty much everything that happened as if I was in the crowd with a bunch of really short sighted people. Rainy City played fabulously & won by quite a lot & I learnt loads & saw a lot of plays in action that I have only read on paper so far. Seeing it on video just is not the same (although I do shout 'Did you see that?!' at the screen quite often too!)

We mooched on down to the after party & I met a few of the Liverpool Roller Birds who were lovely. And Scouse.

Today we're meeting at the Arcadia at 2 for our first skate on the NEW PINK TRACK!!!!! Can't freaking wait. Last night I joined the ranks of Arcadians who have dreamt about that track. I love the Arcadia like it was a puppy! I just want to stroke it and feed it biscuits.

Prime 8 with Mooks making the best face ever:
