Minimum Skills Pt II

I passed wooooooo! Last night me, Scary & Crackity Bones all aced our written tests so now we get to play on Sunday in Leeds. I'm mega excited & totally nervous all at the same time. We played a couple of jams last night & when I jammed I was thinking about it so much that when I went on my toe stops my leg was shaking! I just told myself I hadn't eaten enough & tried to concentrate (I still committed 3 majors in 1 jam - erk!). I'm more worried about spending the whole time in the penalty box that getting knocked over. Being hit is par for the course, but I'm just not experienced enough to avoid those accidental penalties. Last night I crashed in to the back of 3 people at once & knocked them all over! Avoiding some obvious things just doesn't come quite naturally yet, I guess this is practice isn't it!

We're meeting up at Bones' house on Sunday morning to put our names & numbers on some black & white t-shirts. I'll make sure to get Ad to take lots & lots of pictures too. ARGH CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!

  1. Awe...Martha you're doing awesome...and if it's any consolation I get shakey legs to...it's adrenaline...I find if I take deep breaths, shake out and run on the spot on my stoppers it kinda helps me...

As for bumping into the back of ppl...plough, plough, plough and hold your arms up in the air...sounds silly, but if you have em up you cant be called for elbows, forearms etc

Think of it as driving at speed on a motorway...there's been an accident and you can see that traffic ahead is conjested and slow moving...you break early right...it's exacly the same, only you have the advantage because you can see whats coming...

Although we like to think we do...we derby girls don't have eyes in the backs of our heads...we only have peripheral vision...again like when driving...we have blind spots too :)

    You'll get it...promise sweetie
