Metaaaaaaaal!!!!

I don't write many band reviews on here but I just wanted to take a minute to recommed a couple of awesome AWESOME bands that have come to my attention recently...

First up - Cormorant. I first heard them because the MetalSucks blog told me to. They basically said that if you haven't heard this band yet then WHY THE FUCK NOT!!! They are amazing. They're quite mastodon inspired but a whole lot more up tempo with a few real wall of sound moments & some of those Amon Amarth style riffs that properly soar around. Really. Fucking. Awesome.

As well as all that I got a promo email from them today for their new album which is out 6th Dec (can't wait) & I didn't realise but they are completely independent & do all their own marketing & shit which just made me love them even more. Just goes to show that if the music's good enough it can be done!

Second is Revocation. Wikipedia says they're 'extreme metal' I would say they're more modern thrashy but really technical. They're one of those bands that when I put them on in the background people always ask who it is because despite being really traditional in some ways they always manage to be interesting & have some really crazy riffs going on. I love em, so will you. They're also on Bandcamp (I freaking love that site!)

Last of all & completely different I was recently presented with a list of post rock bands to peruse & these guys were first on the list - I've not even got to #2 yet! They're called And So I Watch You From Afar & they freaking rock. Check em out. That's all I'm saying.

And if you've never seen Bandcamp before you neeeeeeed to be on there so badly. You can stream & buy all in one place & if you're like me & you feel guilty about torrenting albums but do it anyway then at least you can pay by donation here & not get completely ripped off either. Good times.
